Why are more people moving to San Antonio, Texas?

As one of the Lone Star State’s most beloved cities, there’s a lot to appreciate about this area. It’s why it appeals to so many different people from different walks of life.

With its population swelling by about 35 percent in the past couple of decades, currently over 1.5 million people call San Antonio home. Some set off for this destination with their loved ones alongside them, while others make the trip with a mind focused on professional aspirations.

Here we’ll discuss some of the individuals who are most likely to love moving to San Antonio.

Who Might Want to Call San Antonio Home?

It’s only fitting that for “The Countdown City,” we’ll be counting down a full list of people who could find a great life here.

If you fall into one of these categories, or if you just want to experience this area for yourself, be sure to call your trusted San Antonio moving company to support you during the trip.

1 - Singles

The good news about moving while single is that, thanks to our talented moving company, you’ll never have to make the trip alone - the great news is that you could find personal fulfillment, new purpose, or even that special someone when you settle into your new home.

The sense of freedom and flow you have will fit perfectly into the local scene. You’ll find plenty of places where you can soak in the atmosphere, make new friends, or go on dates. Think about locations like:

  • Bars and pubs: San Antonio’s wide selection of bars offers you an abundance of atmosphere and flavors. Enjoy drinks in themed locations, cozy corner spots, and hybrid setups that connect with the outdoors.
  • Restaurants: There’s nothing like sitting down to a great meal with new friends. This Texas city offers a full pallet of restaurant options from steakhouses and grills to flavor options like Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and more.
  • Parks: While it’s good to fill up on food and drinks, it’s also good to satisfy your thirst for nature. The area’s many parks have a ton of trails, sitting areas, and of course, gorgeous views of those Texas landscapes.

If you’re moving here solo, you have a vibrant community of people to meet and plenty of places to explore with them.

2 - Couples and Families

What if you already have someone to explore the San Antonio scenery with? Maybe you’re moving with a spouse and kids? In this case, you’re probably considering whether this is the right spot to raise a family in.

For parents or future parents, it’s important to know what kind of school system is around you. San Antonio has many public, private, and charter schools, allowing you to choose the right combination of programs and activities for your childrens’ needs.

Some people worry about safety in a large area like San Antonio. While some areas do have high crime, there are also many safe neighborhoods. For families moving to San Antonio, it’s wise to plan ahead and find areas that offer the optimal mix of safe conditions and good schools.

3 - Established Professionals

For many people, their profession is their passion. These individuals are well established in their field, with experience, credentials, and big dreams of moving further up the career ladder.

This city shows above-average job numbers in healthcare, food services, accommodations, finance, insurance, bioscience, aerospace, and cybersecurity. It’s perfect for professionals who know what they want - even if that means they know they want a change.

Workers may move to a major area like this and choose to pivot within their field. For example, they may want to learn a new specialization, or move up into a supervisory position.

Some people may opt to make a commercial move to San Antonio, which sees them relocate their entire organization to his hotspot of commerce, innovation, and growth. While some may move a company, others may desire to build one from the ground up.

4 - Freelancers and Solopreneurs

Not every professional is focused on working their way up in someone else’s organization. Many prefer to work for themselves, or start their own business.

This type of professional will fit just fine in San Antonio, because the area is designed to cultivate and promote the conditions that fuel business innovation. These conditions include:

  • Low business taxes
  • Strategic infrastructure investments
  • Collaborative opportunities

Some professionals will head to San Antonio and meet brilliant partners who can support and invest in their efforts.

This synergy between talented professionals can spur innovation, especially in an area with such a large population. There's plenty of potential for a new company with fresh ideas to catch on quickly and build momentum fast.

5 - Retirees

After a life of raising kids, making money, running a business, and working hard at all of it, there’s nothing more soothing than a well-deserved retirement.

What could be better than setting off for a new destination during this time? A change of scenery can be perfect for refreshing your mind, and showing you that retirement could be the best chapter yet in your story.

Texas has no state income tax, which means no tax on your Social Security benefits and other retirement income. This leaves more money for splurging - but on what? How about touring San Antonio’s top attractions? You may want to consider:

  • Checking out the San Antonio River Walk
  • Visiting The Alamo
  • Exploring the Natural Bridge Caverns

These are just a few of the fantastic spots you can see in retirement. San Antonio is also a fine spot to just relax and take in the warm weather, or search for something special at one of the area’s many shops. After all, it’s retirement time - and you’ve earned it.

They assisted in packing my apartment and moving it, quick and efficient. Great people to talk to and to be around. We worked with both Jon and John, they tackled the hard situation of moving in Texas heat and no ac in our apartment with no complaints and got everything moved over to out new place faster than I expected. Definitely will be using their services again in the future!

Julian and John were great. They took very good care of my belongings and completed my moved within the amount of time I had estimated. They drove safely to the destination and were very polite, answering almost everything with "sir." That was just the move. I had a major family medical emergency near Austin the Sunday before my move and Guillermo was compassionate and helpful in adjusting my move to the times that suited me. After 4 days of exceptional stress, I had a moment of frustration and abrasively responded to something Guillermo said and he didn't flinch. I'm pretty OCD about my stuff but it looks to have all made it without damage to anything. 10/10 Excellent work
